Little baby Jesus, three wise men and follow that star – that’s the true meaning of Christmas. Or maybe it’s festive jumpers, panic-driven spending sprees, drinking too much and having an almighty row before the Unelected Queen’s speech. Or perhaps Christmas is none of those things. After all, the celebration does have its roots in distant, pre-Christian times, and many of the traditions we hold dear today have darker and more sinister origins.
